Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This policy explains how the Oscar Wild Android app ("the app", "we") handles information. The app is a single-player puzzle game. It has no account or login, and your puzzle progress is stored only on your device.
Who we are
Oscar Wild is published by Ronnie Hyslop. For any privacy question, contact oscarwild@hyslopweb.co.uk.
Information collected
We do not ask you for personal details. We use the following third-party Google services, which may collect data to function:
- Google AdMob (ads): shows interstitial and rewarded ads. AdMob may process your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and ad interactions to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google User Messaging Platform (consent): in the UK and EEA, we show a consent prompt before any personalised ads, and your choice governs how ads are personalised.
- Firebase Analytics: records anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, levels started/completed) to help us improve the game.
- Firebase Crashlytics: if the app crashes, it sends a crash report with device and diagnostic information so we can fix the problem.
- Firebase Remote Config: fetches non-personal app configuration values (such as ad pacing and hint limits) from Google; the request includes a Firebase installation identifier and basic device information.
- Google Play Billing: if you buy "remove ads", Google processes the purchase. We only receive a record that the entitlement is owned โ we never see your payment details.
How information is used
To run and measure ads, to keep the app stable (crash reporting), to understand which features are used, and to provide purchases. We do not sell your data.
Legal basis (UK GDPR / EEA)
Where required, personalised advertising relies on your consent (collected via the consent prompt), which you can change or withdraw at any time. Crash reporting, anonymous analytics, and basic, non-personalised operation rely on our legitimate interest in providing a stable, functional app.
Data sharing
Data is processed by Google as described in its Privacy Policy (AdMob, Firebase, Play). We do not share your information with any other third parties.
Retention
Game progress stays on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall. Analytics and crash data are retained by Google per its standard retention periods.
Your rights
You can withdraw ad-personalisation consent in-app at any time, reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings, and clear on-device data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling. UK/EEA users have rights to access, correct, and erase personal data โ contact us to exercise them.
Children
Oscar Wild is intended for a general ("Everyone") audience and is not directed at children.
Security
Data sent to Google services is transmitted over encrypted connections. On-device game data is stored in the app's private storage.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
